There are plenty of historic and beautiful cities in Scotland and one of these cities is Aberdeen located in the northeastern coast of the United Kingdom. The other significant historical construction is the Saint Machar Cathedral, where it is believed the arm of Walter Wallace rests within its walls, literally. Walter Wallace is best remembered by the Hollywood portrayal of him by Mel Gibson in the movie Braveheart.

If you do however want more than architectural history and beautiful parks and varied sea activities that Aberdeen offers, you can do a lot more for this city is a good staging point for other historical places. From Aberdeen you can also visit other places like Balmoral Castle, where Queen Elizabeth loves to sped her vacations, or go to Loch Ness where you can hope to catch a glimpse of the legendary monster of the lake.

Aberdeen is also an accessible point if you want to visit the Scottish Highlands. The highlands is what really gives you a general picture of what Scotland is all about, with fantastic views and the foggy magical atmosphere that is distinctly Scottish. It is also a place that is chilly the year round and windy as well, so best to bring an extra sweater or coat. In fact anything worth visiting in Scotland is a train or a car ride away from Aberdeen, with trips lasting on average of two to four hours at most.

As regards general average cost, an Aberdeen vacation may not be so cheap for the average traveler. Research has shown that a tourist on average needs to spend at least 300 dollars a day to really enjoy his or her vacation in the area. But of course there are smart ways to significantly lower this spending expectation if one takes AirBnB and group tours into account.
