Discovering Atlanta Educational Tours Of Historical Sites

Whether traveling alone, with a date or as part of a group, sightseeing can be fun. For, Atlanta is one of the best cities to discover as part of a tour group. When desiring to take students on a field trip, Atlanta Educational Tours has a great deal to offer students and group leaders, especially for those interested in history and politics.

Whether desiring to focus on business, history or simply having fun, there are a number of historic sights to see in Atlanta. In most cases, educational tours focus on historical and cultural attractions. Whether a museum, library or park, there is a lot to learn about the city while in the area.

Two of the main political attractions in the city are that of the African American Panoramic Experience Museum and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center For Nonviolence Social Change. The first hosts a number of artifacts and relics related to the African American experience. Whereas, the latter focuses on the life, work and assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Historical sights abound in the city. One of the first libraries of its kind, the Auburn Research Library offers archival and reference collections related to the study of African cultures. Most often those visiting the library plan a half or whole day to do so. For, there are a number of different historical documents and exhibitions which include a great deal of information which is important to read in order to understand the strengths, struggles and successes of African American people.

Buckhead, a local Atlanta neighborhood is quite popular with residents and tourists. For, the neighborhood plays home to a number of gorgeous historical homes, incredible hotels, restaurants and shopping. Whether simply going out for lunch or dinner, or taking a break during tours, this is often considered an area that will not disappoint.

Other sights which educational tours visit often include the CNN Center and Centennial Olympic Park. In fact, it was CNN that broke the news of the explosion that took place at the 1996 Olympic Games, the event for which the complex is best known. Whereas, those visiting the CNN Center can get a first hand view of the stories behind the news and how newscasters decide which reports become news worthy of broadcast.

The Fernback Museum of Natural History provides details on the development of life on earth. As the museum includes interactive exhibits, it is a great place to take the family. There is also a 5-story IMAX experience though most IMAX films are not generally covered as part of the general admission. While this is the case, there are combination tickets and other discounts available for groups, seniors and students.

The Jimmy Carter Center combines politics and history. President Carter served as the United States president from 1977 to 1981. As with past presidents, the library and museum focus on this time period. Included in the exhibitions are gifts which the president and family received while in office as well a duplicate full size replica of the Oval Office as it was during the time of Carter presidency.
